So the Ice Age is coming; it sounds like I should be afraid. Well I wasn’t, not even once. Maybe it’s because I’m a big boy now. So in touch with my inner child that he and I protect each other from films like this.

All right, saying I didn’t like this film would be lying. Hell, hating it would be a litmus test on the overall heart being as cold as the ice the characters tread upon. I just get a little tired of films playing it this safe and predictable. We get our cast of unlikely characters, screaming, "Why can’t we all just get along?", bonding together, trekking through ‘tossed in conflicts’, all to teach us the joyous lesson of teamwork, forgiveness, and togetherness. I admit, all very good traits to have in a childrens movie. But this is rated PG and life just doesn’t work like this. Hell, even Bambie’s Mother got murdered for food in the so called ‘’Circle Of Life’. I guess I needed to see the more obvious aspects of the food chain at work here.

The film is beautiful to look at, impressive animation, and pretty funny at times. If the directors had left the trailer alone, (the first few minutes of the film), they would have walked away with an Academy Award for best-animated short, instead of all the millions of dollars that they’ll make. My loss is their gain.
