Don't expect the intensity of "Training Day" in "John Q". Not even close. Once again Denzel plays the racially challenged, goody two shoed black guy trying to do the right thing. Denzel takes a hospital hostage in order to get a heart transplant for his future bodybuilder son. I felt like a hostage myself watching such a soft cuddly approach to an intense situation. I knew this film was in trouble when the only likeable character is the security guard. Don't forget Robert Duvall as he continues to play the same old Mr. Humble "I’ll take care of everything" guy. Too contrived and convenient if you ask me.
