Ice Age

All right, all right. I know Ice Age is no Shrek or Monsters Inc. but I loved it. I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair. I also cried and felt very sad for Manfred and his various companions.
The movie has everything I need and possible could want. The story (while not the deepest, is still sufficient…..heck this is not Shakespeare it’s animation) carries a message and a whole lot of heart, plus great voice over acting that make the movie work. I could relate and understand the characters plight. A buddy movie on the road with a mission in the freezing cold. Hey, there’s a twist.

I think anybody (unless your Bill or from another planet) could enjoy this movie. Don’t get hung up on the animation quality, while it is not the very best in town, for a virgin effort from Fox , I do think it is acceptable. The voice over work from Dennis Leary, Ray Romano and especially John Leguziamo (one of my favorites) are par excellence.

My favorite though is the continuous leitmotif carried out by a very hard working mute squirrel. I think he is my new superhero.

The movie is a nicely packaged combo of entertainment with a solid message. I recommend it to everyone.
